Some Stations On The Way To The Cross
The title of the exhibition refers to a project I began at the commencement of a 2 year, part-time MA course in London. I used the old chestnut 'The Stations of the Cross' as a jump-off point, realising as I researched the material, that each station was a moral tale in itself, and I could thus avoid any overtly religious connotations. It seemed somehow appropriate to utilise the names of London Underground stations to localise the paintings, having returned to
the city after 20 years.
They are all oil on paper, for ease of movement (on the tube). |
