Kim pieters

Born in Rotorua 1959, Kim Pieters is a New Zealander of Dutch-English descent. Kim started making work in the early 1980s and has been exhibiting in both public and dealer galleries since 1989. Her current studio is in the heart of Dunedin's Town Wharf area.
Kim is an abstract painter and she says abstraction allows her to say the colour of ideas. She says mostly she paints flowers,"not flowers themselves, but the atmosphere of flowers." Kim uses mixed media on board and a variety of papers, including building paper and wallpaper. She prefers to work on demolition board because it has 'character' - she says in the same way Chinese people feel about paper.
