Kim pieters

Born in Rotorua 1959, Kim Pieters is a New Zealander of Dutch-English descent. Kim started making work in the early 1980s and has been exhibiting in both public and dealer galleries since 1989. Her current studio is in the heart of Dunedin's Town Wharf area.
She is primarily an informal abstractionist painter using mixed media on board and various papers, including building paper and wallpaper. The scriptural practices of the American Cy Twombly, the surrealist concept of automatic gesture, and the spatial and calligraphic features of oriental painting are points of reference when viewing her work.
